Lipase
Lipase is a class of enzymes that help break down fats into their components (fatty acids and glycerol). The first mammalian lipase, pancreatic lipase, was discovered by Claude Bernard in 1848, marking a significant advancement in understanding the human digestive process. Lipases are naturally found in humans, animals, plants (such as avocados) and microbes and play a critical role in breaking down dietary fats. Beyond digestion, lipases are used in a wide variety of ways in food, pharma, biotechnology and even biodiesel.*

From Seed to You
We grow our lipase in a small fermenter (a "seed vessel"), carefully developing it until it's ready for the big leagues (enormous fermenters that are up to three stories high). Our skilled team has perfected the art of extracting and purifying lipase for decades, maximizing the potency and therapeutic benefits and consistently delivering a superior quality enzyme that meets the highest standards for food and pharmaceutical use. In fact, our lipase is so good, a great many of our competitors actually use our lipase in their products.
Traditional Uses
Traditionally, lipase has been used in dietary supplements to aid in the digestion of fats, helping to relieve indigestion, bloating, heartburn and flatulence caused by undigested fat in meals. It is particularly useful for gallbladder support.
Lipase has a number of other applications. For example, it is used in flavor development for fermented dairy products like cheese and yogurt, in detergents to help break down grease stains on your laundry, and in the leather industry as an environmentally friendly alternative to chemicals.*
Why Formulation Matters
Everyone knows that chocolate and peanut butter are great alone, but that together they are better than their parts. Lipase is amazing, but we never sell it alone. Lipase is best when carefully combined with other ingredients for specific purposes. Our expert formulator with over 40 years of experience in enzymes and probiotics put together formulations for specific purposes, knowing how each of their parts would interact with each other.
